As well as being free, it's also much more
versatile than SMS. You can send photos, videos, and audio files, make videocalls
and voice calls, leave someone a video message, and more. The WhatsApp app is
also free to download, so there's absolutely no cost whatsoever.
The app is so
functional because the creator of the app is Jan Koum, who is an
outstanding programmer. Jan, whose nationality is Russian, initially made the app only made for IOS
users.
One of the main
reasons why WhatsApp is functional for me it has an international user base.
After becoming a trend in some areas, it really took off. WhatsApp is
particularly popular in Latin American countries, where its popularity is so
high that it has virtually replaced outdated forms of communication such
as text messages or phone calls. The app, which can be used by iPhone
users and Android too, can add a temporary text or photo status to share with
your contacts (or certain people you choose). You'll also see any statuses your
contacts have shared with you.
In the app you can
make video calls with your friends at the same time and from anywhere in the
world, I discovered 2 years ago when my friends, whom I meet in the rotary
club, called me from Spain, where the time zone is different in Mexico,
for them it was 5 in the afternoon but for me it was 10 in the morning, and I
was barely waking up
